Beach Week Recap

Happy Friday, loves!

First off, thank you for all the comments, emails, tweets and so on that I received after posting the hair tutorial! You guys are seriously too kind to me!! I was nervous to "put myself out there" so I'm happy you all seemed to like it. I would love to make more videos in the future, so if there's something you want me to vlog about, please let me know :)

This Friday I thought I'd share a quick recap of my week at the beach.

Our first day here it rained all morning, so Momma and I decided to make a shopping trip to Wilmington. I've been saving up my money for a long time just so that I could splurge some at the beach. I found these neon J.Crew items on sale at a seriously reduced price and just HAD to get them! I've been wearing this bracelet nonstop.

This polish is neon and I LOVE it. Here's an awesome tip: white polish is a great base coat and really makes the neon polish pop.

We also stopped by Bath & Body Works, where my sweet mom purchased this {Peach Bellini candle} for me. It seriously smells amazing! It's the perfect summertime candle to burn while you're getting ready or reading in bed. 

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you may know that I'm a huge sucker for cups. Seriously. It's nerdy, but I really freakin' love cups. I love my monogrammed tervis tumbler to death, but when I saw this cutie at Swoozie's, I couldn't resist it. It resembles a mason jar, has a handle, pink stripes AND a navy monogram. Could a cup get any more perfect?

The exact cup I bought is the {acrylic mason jar} in preppy pink stripe. (I'm pretty sure this comes in other colors as well - navy and green.) I chose the diamond monogram in the color "dark blue." Also, if you're wondering about the bow, I picked mine up in the store and it came with the bow! I kept it on because I thought it was so cute.

After getting a little too much sun on Wednesday, my family headed to Myrtle Beach to visit Alligator Adventures and to do a little more shopping. The Tanger Outlets in Myrtle Beach has to be my favorite place in the world. The Kate Spade outlet is currently having a huge sale - 40% off all handbags, plus an extra 20% off of that price!

I know the first bag is more versatile, but I think it photographed better than it actually looks in person. In person, the straw bag I bought is GORGEOUS and has a beautiful neon pink trim! Plus I thought it was more fun. I know I can only wear it in the summer, but isn't that just an excuse to buy a new handbag in the fall? ;)

Despite the shopping, my favorite part about this week has been just being able to relax! This is my first year without a summer break and it has hit me hard. It's been so nice not to have to think about work. My favorite thing to do is lay in the sun and read novels or solve puzzles in my puzzle book! (Haha, yes I told you I was a nerd).

Today I'll be enjoying my last day on the beach with my family, then after dinner I'm headed to Charleston with some of my friends for Memorial Day Weekend.

Hair Tutorial

Hi loves!

Here's the hair tutorial I promised a while ago. I'm a little self conscious in front of the camera (this is my first video!) but hopefully you will learn how I do my hair and can try it out for yourself.

Favorite hair products, all of which can be found at the drugstore (I don't believe in spending tons of money on hair products!):

{shampoo}{conditioner}

{deep conditioner}{frizz serum}

I'm a huge fan of deep conditioning my hair. I'll apply it a couple times per week in the shower, let it soak in my hair while I shave my legs, and then comb it through before washing it out. I swear by L'Oreal's EverPure deep conditioner - it makes my hair feel baby soft!

Beach Snapshots

Hey babes!

I've been having so much fun with my family at the beach. Here are a few pictures from today's fun in the sun :)

I picked up this {fringe top} and these {leopard bottoms} from Target a few months ago and have been saving them for this vacation! Sunnies are the {ava tortie} from Anthropologie and the {sun hat} is from J.Crew.

I love my mom's {Kenneth Cole Reaction tankini}. Aren't the colors brilliant? They really pop on the beach!

In other news, I filmed a hair tutorial today! I have to edit the video first, but it will be up within a few days. I felt SO self conscious filming it (and I also hate my voice on camera) so no judgies please! haha.

Fridays Fancies: Stripes

This week's theme for Friday Fancies is stripes! I love stripes, so this was a fun outfit to put together. I've really been into "pattern mixing" lately, so I thought this seahorse tee was a fun print to pair with this adorable striped skirt. Throw in a gorgeous crystal necklace (I have this exact one) and a bright bag, and you're good to go.

Although this outfit doesn't contain stripes, here's a similar skirt-top-necklace combo I wore to work yesterday:

The skirt is from J.Crew, but unfortunately I bought it a few seasons ago!

Hi lovies!

It's been a while since I posted and it's time I updated you on my life! This mayyy end up being a long post so bear with me. :) 

First off, I have been collecting so many awesome pieces of jewelry lately. I just can't get enough of this blingy necklace from T & J Designs (expect to see it in some upcoming outfit posts!). It's one of those necklaces you can dress up and down, and I can't wait to style this some more.

This chain bracelet is a newbie from the J.Crew Factory outlet. I love how simple it is and that I can wear it with anything - what an easy way to add some chic to my arm party. I think it will look even better with a tan!

I also bought these Tory Burch earrings during their Friends & Family Sale. Online they looked a lot bigger, so when they arrived in the mail I was surprised to find that they actually weren't that big! I still like them, but I don't know if I would have spent the money on them if I had known.

Last week, Emily over at {The Sweetest Thing} became my hero when she told me about these Karen Walker look-alike sunnies!!! I have been searching high and low for some look-alikes (since the real ones I want are $300!) but wasn't having any luck. She found these at Anthropologie and notified me that the store in Greenville had a few pairs left. I hopped right over to Anthro on my lunch break to pick them up! Not to mention, these babies are only $38, which is an awesome deal.

I love experimenting with my nails, so when I found these {nailed it chevron decals} online I had to order them. They're really easy to use - I just used a pair of scissors to cut them down to the size of my nail. Add a clear top coat and you're set to go.

This weekend was another wedding weekend! So much fun AND I got to spend it with my favorite boy.

I'm praying this week goes by quickly because on Saturday my family and I are off to the beach for a whole week! I'll be up early every morning this week to get in my ab workouts - it's been a while since I've had to be in a bikini, haha. 

On another note, this is the first year where I don't have a summer break and it is killing me. I miss those lazy summer days spent in the sunshine! I loved having summers off, taking spontaneous trips, reading new books and spending time with my family and friends. If you still have a summer break, cherish it and be sure to make the most out of it!

Daily Makeup Routine

Hi lovies!

My daily makeup routine is super simple. I like to sleep in as late as possible in the mornings before work, so I need my makeup routine to be quick and easy and still get the job done! These are my favorite products that I wear every day. Nope, I don't even wear eye shadow - I actually like my eyes better without it! 

Moisturizer: I swear by philosophy's {hope in a jar}. It's extremely hydrating but incredibly light. It doesn't leave my face feeling greasy afterward, just refreshed!

Foundation: Bobbi Brown's liquid {foundation} is simply amazing. It's so natural looking, but provides enough coverage to hide all my imperfections. It also contains SPF 15 to protect your face from the sun (which is essential since I HATE putting on sunscreen). This {foundation brush} is the perfect brush to apply it with!

Bronzer: Too Faced {sun bunny bronzer} is a must-have for me. My face is naturally really pale and this bronzer makes me look like I've actually gotten some sun! I love that there's a dark and light side, so you can mix your perfect shade. There's also a little bit of shimmer in this product which really makes your face "glow."

Blush: Bobbi Brown's {blush in nude pink} is my all-time favorite blush (I love it even more than NARS orgasm!). This is the perfect pink color for my skin and it makes me look more alive in the morning. I love that rosy, fresh-faced look and this product helps me achieve that!

Mascara: I'm crazy about eyelashes. When I stumbled upon this drugstore mascara, I knew I could never turn back. This stuff is the bomb dot com! Maybelline's {XXL Pro Mascara} has primer on one side and mascara on the other. The primer is white and goes on your lashes to plump them up before you apply the mascara. I always get compliments on my eyelashes and I truly believe it's because of this stuff!!

Gloss: I love Bobbi Brown's lip gloss in {popsicle}. It's the perfect gloss if you want just a smidge of color. It also gives my lips a pretty shine without being sticky (I hate sticky lip gloss!).

There you have it! I have a different makeup routine if I'm going out at night, but this is my routine for every day. This routine really gives my face a natural look. I don't want people to think I'm wearing a lot of makeup, and I swear by these products!
